ABOUT

Costanza was born in Mendoza, Argentina. Devoted to painting since the age of ten, she attended the University of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires before settling in Miami in 1992 and moving to New York City in 2009.

After a 40-year artistic journey infused with spirituality and inner devotion, Costanza has developed a style characterized by pure feeling, expressed through geometric abstraction. Costanza avoids commonplace grid patterns in favor of infinite curves and converging planes that often exceed the boundaries of the canvas. Her color palette is vibrant, primary and compelling.

Her works are held in numerous private and public collections in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.

Miriam Costanza lives and works in New York City.

“My obsession with painting has always been the idea of synthesis interconnected first with nature and, to a certain degree, a scientific, aesthetic development of analytical geometry.
Like in life, I don't need static art forms or philosophies. These perspectives I saw early as a child in Argentina because I grew up on a race track where my father, Salvatore Costanza, would build a race car and race them competitively.
I saw the power of a hammer and how it could build an engine and then manifest it into a beast of a machine. I have transformed that energy into my psyche to such an extent that it is reflected in my art practice. The colors and the swirls of mathematical discs connect me to my spacetime continuum in a new synthesis as a modern woman artist.”
